PS1-style horror game for PC

Deep City is a free adventure game for PC by indie developer, Felix Krause. It was created in the style of the PS1 horror games of decades past. It was submitted as an entry in the 2021 HPS1 Summer of Shivers game jam event.

Just like with Shadow over Normoth and Symphony of Seven Souls, Deep City utilizes the ever-popular and distinct low-poly 3D graphics that all those PS1 classic titles made use of back then. It also employs old-school sound effects and music that make the experience very nostalgic and feel quite similar.

What is it about?

In Deep City, you are on a journey at sea on an old and rusty boat. It has been so long since you first set out. Suddenly, you hear a noise from below, and you go and check it out. A mysterious tentacle-like creature emerges and drags you down to the deep. Thus, begins a series of bizarre and unexplained events.

When you finally come to, you find yourself seemingly underwater, but with the sight of train tracks beneath your feet. The mysterious entity shows itself once again and you escape inside what looks like an abandoned city. You now explore and discover the truth behind your current bizarre situation, while trying your best to avoid whatever is trying to come after you.

Before you try this game out, just know that this is a game that was made by just two people, with limited time and resources, as an entry to a game jam event. As such, the game itself is rather short and can be finished within a few minutes depending on how you play it. Nonetheless, it does provide an interesting playthrough given the conditions it's working with.

Short but interesting

Without giving too much away, Deep City might be a brief experience, but it is an interesting one that will make you stop and think for a bit once you get to the end. The graphics and sound effects are classic PS1 vibes and if you're a fan of PS1 horror games, this one is worth giving a shot.

Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
